Wins Award For The First Time
LANCASTER, Pa. – Washington College junior midfielder/face-off specialist Michael Trapp (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for men's lacrosse for the week of April 21-27 as announced by the conference office. This is the first time Trapp has earned the conference's defensive player of the week award.
In Washington's 11-6 victory over Swarthmore on Wednesday night, he went 17-for-20 in face-offs and scooped up a game-best 13 ground balls. He won the game's first 12 face-offs, including all nine face-offs in the first half. Trapp also had three points and two goals to match his career-high in both categories and also handed out an assist. All three of his points came in WC's 5-2 third quarter to give the Shoremen a 9-6 lead after three quarters.
The sixth-ranked Shoremen will host Gettysburg on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in the semi-final round of the 2014 Centennial Conference Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Washington is the #1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
