Shoremen Conclude Season at Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Washington College men's rowing team concluded its 2017-18 season at the Dad Vail Regatta yesterday and today on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

How It Happened
- Lee Potter and Grayson Searles placed fourth in their heat of the men's pair in 7:37.311 to advance to the petite final. Canisius won the heat (7:25.347), Merchant Marine second (7:26.432), Loyola third (7:34.294), Dayton fifth (7:50.318), and High Point sixth (9:30.289). They were then second in the petite final in 7:26.152 to place eighth overall. Pittsburgh won the petite final in 7:25.733, Loyola was third (7:27.481), William & Mary fourth (7:34.190), Franklin & Marshall fifth (7:39.416), and Georgia Tech (7:49.672).
- The Shoremen had two entries in the men's collegiate doubles. Charles Snyder and Evan Koch were fifth in their heat in 7:51.321 to advance to the third-level final. George Mason won that heat (7:20.566), Virginia was second (7:29.182), Oklahoma City third (7:38.214), and Brandeis fourth (7:45.185).   Snyder and Koch won the third-level final by more than 22 seconds, finishing in 7:45.096. Merchant Marine was second (8:07.150), Clarkson third (8:11.068), and Bucknell fourth (8:54.760). Brook Yimer and Samson Ramasamy were fourth in their heat in 8:18.263. Merchant Marine won the heat (7:13.584), Georgia Tech was second (7:13.956), Cincinnati third (7:16.955), and Clarkson fifth (8:31.116). Ramasamy and Yimer were a scratch from the petite final in order to prepare for the fourth-level final of the varsity four.
- The Shoremen's varsity four just missed a spot in the semifinals by placing 19th in the time trial in 6:49.864 to advance to the fourth-level final. The top 18 fastest times in the time trial advanced to the three semifinal races, but the Shoremen's time trial time did rank fourth among all crews from Division III schools in the event. The Shoremen then won the fourth-level final in 7:09.728. The College of New Jersey was second (7:12.778), Delaware third (7:19.862), Marquette fourth (7:20.256), Villanova fifth (7:27.003), and St. Thomas sixth (7:29.430).   
- The Shoremen were also fourth of five boats in the men's quad, a final-only event in 7:29.646. Mercyhurst won the race in 6:33.617, Michigan was second (6:57.84), Fairfield third (7:14.992), and Iona fifth (9:38.180).
