CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Seniors Brendan Demas (Fairhaven, Md./Southern) and Danielle Murdock (Terryville, Conn./St. Paul Catholic) will serve as captains of the Washington College Trap and Skeet (WCTS) team for the 2018-19 academic year, the program's first season as a varsity sport.
Demas finished 19th in Class B American Trap and 23rd in Class B American Skeet at last year's ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships. Murdock was named the team's MVP last season. She tied for eighth among all women in combined trap, finished 10th in Class A American Trap and 17th in Class A International Trap, and finished 42nd in the women's HOA standings at last year's ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships.
Prior to this year, WCTS operated as a competitive club sport at the College. Washington College's trap and skeet club formed in the mid-2000s and began attending competitions toward the end of that decade. The College's first appearance at an ACUI conference championship event came in 2010 and its first trip to the national championships came four years later.
WCTS is slated to host the Battle of the Bay on September 8th and 9th, its first competition as a varsity program.
