    The Washington College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in a tri-match on Saturday at the Mayser Center.  In the first match of the day, host Franklin & Marshall topped Washington, 3-0, (25-15, 25-23, 25-22) in a Centennial Conference match and in the second contest, the Shorewomen dropped a five-setter to Clarkson, 3-2, (22-25, 25-22, 25-14, 22-25, 15-11).

    The Washington College volleyball team won its third DeSales Invitational championship in four years and second straight as the Shorewomen completed a perfect 4-0 weekend with two wins in the second day of the DeSales Invitational on Saturday at Billera Gym.  In the first match of the day, Washington rallied to down Rutgers-Camden, 3-2, (22-25, 25-15, 18-25, 25-22, 15-6) and captured the crown with a three-set win over DeSales, 3-0, (25-19, 25-21, 25-19).  Junior right-side hitter/defensive specialist Cassie Kowalski was named the invitation’s MVP, while sophomore middle hitter Isabella Sansanelli was named to the all-tournament team.

    Washington College volleyball head coach Jamie Leventry has named two captains for the 2018 season.  Seniors outside hitter Kaitlyn Marino and junior right-side hitter/defensive specialist Cassie Kowalski will serve as captains for the Shorewomen this year.  The duo are serving as captains for the first time.

    Since the start of the 2013 season, the Washington College volleyball program has won 84 matches, the most in any five-year span since winning 90 from 1990-94.  However, despite the overall record success the goal of reaching the Centennial Conference Tournament continues to escape the grasp of the Shorewomen.  Despite a 17-11 overall record in 2017, including a 14-4 mark out of conference, the team could not replicate its out of conference success in Centennial play.
  • Aimee Petrides Named Assistant Volleyball Coach

    Washington College head volleyball coach Jamie Leventry has announced the hiring of Aimee Petrides as the team’s new assistant coach. Petrides spent the past two years as an assistant volleyball coach and assistant athletic trainer at Frostburg State University, where she previously played four years of collegiate volleyball.

    Four student-athletes from the Washington College volleyball team have qualified for the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll for fall sports. Among those four is junior Kaitlyn Marino, who was also named Academic All-Centennial.

    Junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Marino has been named to the All-Centennial Conference honorable mention for volleyball in a vote conducted by the conference’s 11 head coaches. This is the second time Marino has garnered all-conference honors as she garnered a second team selection last fall and is the fourth WC volleyball player to earn a spot on consecutive all-conference teams.

    Host Muhlenberg spoiled the season finale for visiting Washington College in a 3-0 (25-12, 27-25, 25-21) win for the home team on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference volleyball match at Memorial Hall.  Senior setter Taylor Horan had 26 assists and finished her career with 3,295 helpers, just eight short of the program record for most assists by a Shorewoman. 
  • Shorewomen Broom Away Bears In Straight Sets In Home Finale

    The Washington College volleyball team swept visiting Ursinus, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-21), on Wednesday night at the Cain Athletic Center in a Centennial Conference volleyball match.  The Shorewomen have now downed the Bears six straight times in the series and improve to 17-10 overall and 3-6 in the Centennial.  The Bears drop to 6-17 and 0-8 respectively with the loss. It was the home finale for the Shorewomen.
  • Washington Splits Tri-Match on Senior Day

    The Washington College volleyball team split its Senior Day tri-match against Elizabethtown and Hood on Saturday afternoon at the Cain Athletic Center.  The Shorewomen fell to Elizabethtown in five sets, 3-2 (23-25, 25-14, 25-23, 18-25, 15-13), in the first match of the day before coming back to top Hood, 3-1 (25-21, 25-11, 21-25, 25-15), in the final match of the day.  Senior setter Taylor Horan became the ninth player in team history to achieve 1,000 career digs and with her 25 total digs in the two matches she has 1,011 for her career, just three behind Nanna Kozemchak ’07 for eighth on the all-time list.

    The Washington College volleyball team went 1-1 in a home tri-match on Saturday afternoon with visiting Franklin & Marshall and Alvernia. The Shorewomen were bested by Franklin & Marshall, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23), in in the opening match of the day in a Centennial Conference volleyball. Washington bounced back from the loss to the Diplomats to broom Alvernia, 3-0 (25-21, 25-11, 25-13), in the last match of the day. With the win over Alvernia, the Shorewomen clinch their fifth winning season in the past seven years.

With the win, the Shorewomen are now 10-1 after 11 matches for the first time in program history.

    The Washington College volleyball team split a home tri-match on Saturday with Gettysburg and Rosemont.  The Shorewomen were downed by Gettysburg, 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-19), in in the opening match of the day in the Centennial Conference opener for both squads.  Washington rebounded from the loss to the Bullets to sweep Rosemont, 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-12), in the last match of the day.  The Shorewomen are now 9-1 overall and 0-1 in the CC.  This is the third time WC has started a season 9-1 in program history as the 1978 and 2014 editions of Shorewomen Volleyball opened 9-1.

    Washington College junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Marino has been named the HERO Sports D3Volleyball Hero of the Week. She was one of 10 nationwide nominees for the honor and won the fan vote with 39.44% of the vote.

    The Washington College volleyball team has won its first eight matches for the first time in 39 years as the host Shorewomen swept visiting Catholic, 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-21), on Wednesday night at the Cain Athletic Center in a non-conference volleyball match. The eight wins to start the season are the most victories to open a campaign for a WC volleyball squad before the first loss. The Shorewomen began the 1978 season at 8-0.

    The Washington College volleyball team opened its home slate on a good note with a pair of victories on Saturday at the Cain Athletic Center. The Shorewomen rallied from down 14-11 in the fifth set to edge Shenandoah 17-15 to win, 3-2 (22-25, 28-26, 25-19, 22-25, 17-15), and swept Notre Dame (Md.) in the team’s second match, 3-0 (25-13, 25-21, 25-21). Senior setter Taylor Horan tallied 88 assists in the two matches and is now second all-time in program history in assists with 2,753.

However it was not enough for the visiting Shorewomen as they fell to the Bullets, 3-1 (25-22, 26-24, 21-25, 25-16). Horan, who had match-highs of 43 assists and 21 digs, now has 2,020 assists in her career.

Utchen, who had 21 digs in the match to lead all players, now has 1,335 digs in her career.

The Shorewomen downed Cairn, 3-0, (25-14, 25-14, 25-15) in the first match and Eastern Mennonite, 3-1, (25-23, 17-25, 25-9, 25-11) in the second contest. The Shorewomen, who went 4-0 this weekend, are now 8-1 and off to their best start since 1978 when the team opened up 8-1.

The middle match saw Albright down Stevenson, 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-23).
