Long-Time Staff Members Brown, Schmidt Retiring

CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Long-time Washington College athletic department staff members Sue Brown and Gail Schmidt are retiring from the College. Brown has been a Sports Turf Manager at the College for 30 years and also served as an assistant softball coach early in her tenure, while Schmidt has been the department's Equipment Manager for the past 20 years.

"We can't thank Gail and Sue enough for all that they have done throughout their careers in the athletic department," remarked Director of Athletics Thad Moore. "They continuously went above and beyond to ensure our student-athletes had a wonderful experience.  We wish them well in their retirement and they will be greatly missed by all."

Both Brown's and Schmidt's final day before retirement is this Friday, August 16th. The College's athletic fields will be tended to by the department's other Sports Turf Manager, Jack Davis, with rotational assistance from the College's Grounds staff. Missy Orff, who has served as a laundry specialist for the athletic department the past several years will take over for Schmidt as Equipment Manager.
