#11 Swarthmore Tops Washington, 62-47

Dixon Nets Game-Best 13 Points for Shoremen and Grabs Team-High Seven Rebounds

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Host Swarthmore got a double-double from Robbie Walsh (team-high 12 points and a game-best 14 rebounds) in a 62-47 win over visiting Washington College at Tarble Pavilion in a Centennial Conference men's basketball game on Thursday night.  The Garnet improve to 16-2 overall and 10-1 in the Centennial, while the Shoremen drop to 5-13 and 2-9 respectively.

How It Happened
- After allowing the first basket of the game to the Shoremen's Josh Porteous on a jumper 41 seconds in, the Garnet scored the next 10 points to take a 10-2 lead 4:44 into the first half on a Jim Lammers three from the left corner.
- Trailing 30-10, Washington scored seven straight points to trim the Swarthmore lead to 30-17 with 1:59 to go in the half on a Kaiden Williams layup.  The hosts would score the final four points of the half to take a 34-17 lead into halftime.
- Down 42-20 following a Cam Wiley triple for the Garnet with 17:13 to go in the second half, the Shoremen scored eight unanswered points to trim the lead to 42-28 with 14:25 to go on a Porteous layup.
- 14 points is as close as WC came the rest of the game as the Shoremen got within 14 on two more occasions in the second half, the final time coming with 7:19 to go in the contest on a Barry McCormick bucket. 
- The Shoremen outscored the Garnet 30-28 in the second half.

For The Shoremen (5-13, 2-9 CC)
- Tas Dixon (13 points to lead all players and seven rebounds to lead squad and tie career-best), Porteous (12 points).
- Washington shot 33% (16-for-49) from the floor, 29% from three-point range (4-for-14) and 79% from the foul stripe (11-for-14).
- The Shoremen had 18 turnovers in the game.

For #11 Swarthmore (16-2, 10-1 CC)
- Walsh (12 points to lead team and game-bests of 14 rebounds, three steals and two blocks), Conor Harkins (11 points), Cam Wiley (four assists)
- The Garnet shot 42% (21-for-50) from the field, 32% (8-for-20) from beyond the arc and 67% (12-for-18) from the free throw line.
- Swarthmore outrebounded Washington 40-24 and outscored the guests in second-chance points (10-4), points in the paint (24-16), points off of turnovers (14-8), bench points (24-18) and fast-break points (4-2).
- The Garnet had 19 turnovers.

- Dixon had his third career game of seven rebounds and second straight as he had seven this past Saturday versus Gettysburg.  In addition to tonight and last Saturday, he had seven boards against Dickinson on February 6, 2016.
