CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's rowing team swept a pair of races from visiting St. Mary's College of Maryland this morning on the Chester River.
In the varsity four, the Shoremen's "A" boat finished first in 6:41, while the Shoremen's "B" boat was second in 6:44. St. Mary's placed third in 6:49. Washington won the varsity eight by a wide margin, finishing in 6:35 to the Seahawks' time of 7:18.
Sophomore Rebecca Wozniak (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) served as coxswain of the Shoremen's "A" boat in the varsity four. Junior Robert Storck (Wilton, CT/St. Mark's School [MA]) sat stroke, senior Sean Harrison (Richmond, VA/Hazelton Area [PA]) was in the three seat, senior Miqdad Annab (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Rob Billings (Easton, MD/Easton) was the bow.
Freshman Jill Gobrecht (Hanover, PA/South Western) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's "B" boat in the varsity four. Sophomore Conor Howlett (Tampa, FL/H.B. Plant) sat stroke, junior Parker McIntosh (Berlin, MD/Worcester Prep) was in the three seat, sophomore Anthony Cairo (Port Murray, NJ/Warren Hills) sat in the two seat, and sophomore Dominic DiMarino (Wilmington, DE/Concord) was the bow.
Freshman Christie Phebus (Trappe, MD/Easton) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity eight. Freshman Ian Briggs (Huntsville, AL/The Gow School [NY]) sat stroke, freshman Brian Zohorsky (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron) was in the seven seat, freshman Ben Sproule (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) sat in the six seat, freshman Andy Sauthoff (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) was in the five seat, freshman Jack Christ (Hydes, MD/Jemicy Upper School) was in the four seat, sophomore Chris Carrara (Leesburg, NJ/Millville) sat in the three seat, sophomore Max Villa (Great Meadows, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was in the two seat, and junior Dale Frymark (Gambrills, MD/Arundel) was the bow.
The Shoremen return to action tomorrow at the Occoquan Sprints in Lorton, VA.
