Shoremen Win Varsity Pair in Regatta at Philadelphia U

Shoremen Take Second in Varsity Eight, Novice Four

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA -- The Washington College men's rowing team won the varsity pair in a regatta hosted by Philadelphia University and also featuring Frankling & Marshall and Villanova this morning on the Schulylkill River in Conshohocken, PA. Conditions for the regatta were windy and rough, shortening the pair and novice four races to 1,500 meters.

Sophomores Anthony Cairo (Port Murray, NJ/Warren Hills) and Dominic DiMarino (Wilmington, DE/Concord) won the varsity pair for the Shoremen in 6:34.40. Villanova was second in 6:44.10 and Philadelphia University was third in 7:25.93.

In the varsity eight, Villanova took first in 6:26.25, followed by the Shoremen in second in 6:33.50 and Franklin & Marshall in third in 6:56.64. Villanova also won the novice four as its "A" boat finished first in 6:22.80, the Shoremen took second in 6:36.33, F&M placed third in 6:49.00, and Villanova's "B" boat was fourth in 6:56.21. F&M won the varsity four in 6:56.40, Philadelphia U. took second in 7:01.46, and the Shoremen placed third in 7:05.38.

Junior Jeff Nutting (Catonsville, MD/Mount St. Joseph) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity four. Junior Robert Storck (Wilton, CT/St. Mark's School [MA]) sat stroke, sophomore Conor Howlett (Tampa, FL/H.B. Plant) was in the three seat, junior Parker McIntosh (Berlin, MD/Worcester Prep) was in the two seat, and senior Sean Harrison (Richmond, VA/Hazelton Area [PA]) was the bow.

Sophomore Chris Moylan (Silver Spring, MD/DeMatha) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity eight. Storck sat stroke, Howeltt was in the seven seat, McIntosh was in the six seat, Harrison sat in the five seat, senior Miqdad Annab (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) was in the four seat, sophomore Jack McCarthy (Long Beach Island, NJ/The Hun School) sat in the three seat, Cairo was in the two seat, and DiMarino was the bow.

Freshman Christie Phebus (Trappe, MD/Easton) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's novice four. Freshman Ian Briggs (Huntsville, AL/The Gow School [NY]) sat stroke, freshman Andy Sauthoff (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) sat in the three seat, freshman Jack Christ (Hydes, MD/Jemicy Upper School) was in the two seat, and junior Dale Frymark (Gambrills, MD/Arundel) was the bow.

The Shoremen return to action next Saturday and Sunday at the Knecht Cup in Cherry Hill, NJ.
