Shoremen Take Three Races Against Explorers

CHESTERTOWN, Md. -- The Washington College men's rowing team swept three races from La Salle this morning in a regatta held on the Chester River.

The Shoremen took the varsity eight by a wide margin against the Explorers in the third and final race of the morning, winning in 6:52 to La Salle's time of 7:37. In the second race of the morning, the Shoremen's junior varsity eight edged La Salle's freshman eight, 6:25 to 6:28. The morning began with the Shoremen's varsity and novice fours racing against a La Salle composite four. Washington's varsity four won the race in 7:27.41, the Shoremen's novices were second in 8:08.17, and La Salle was third in 8:40.08.

Junior John Gould (Litchfield, Conn./The Gunnery) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's first varsity eight. Sophomore Zee Ali (Galloway, N.J./Absegami) sat stroke, junior Ryan Miranda (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) was in the seven seat, sophomore Teddy Connell (Chadds Ford, Pa./Unionville) was in the six seat, sophomore Stuart Grosvenor (Rockville, Md./Richard Montgomery) sat in the five seat, senior Jack Christ (Hydes, Md./Jemicy Upper School) was in the four seat, freshman Joe Stockburger (Wilmington, Del./Salesianum) sat in the three seat, freshman Chris Eggstein (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) was in the two seat, and junior Mark Boissonneault (Bowie, Md./DeMatha) was the bow.

Freshman Kelly Valette (Springfield, Va./Lake Braddock) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's junior varsity eight. Sophomore Alexander Blue (Haddon Township, N.J./Haddon Township) sat stroke, junior Nathaniel Giblin (Cazenovia, N.Y./St. Johnsbury Academy [Vt.]) was in the seven seat, Junior Sean Haynie (Hampstead, Md./Calvert Hall) sat in the six seat, junior Ian Briggs (Huntsville, Ala./The Gow School [N.Y.]) was in the five seat, freshman Jeffrey Wrobel (Henrico, Va,/home school) was in the four seat, freshman Samson Ramasamy (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) sat in the three seat, junior T. Ian Flinn (Marlton, N.J./Bishop Eustace Prep) sat in the two seat, and senior Ben Sproule (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) was the bow.

Sophomore Isabelle Ryan (Catonsville, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity four. Freshman Toby Puleo (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) sat stroke, sophomore Theo Aris (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow) sat in the three seat, freshman Anders Larson (Waterville, N.Y./Waterville) was in the two seat, and sophomore Joey Erlandson (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) was the bow. 

Freshman Tori Swanson (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of WIlmington) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's novice four. Freshman Santiago Andrade (Belleville, N.J./Belleville) sat stroke, freshman Tommy Heffernan (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall)was in the three seat, sophomore Daniel Benton (Dover, Pa./Dover) sat in the two seat, and freshman Brandon Toth (Catonsville, Md./Mount St. Joseph) was the bow. 

The Shoremen return to action next weekend at the Knecht Cup in West Windsor, N.J.
