Shoremen Stand Out Among Crews from Division III Schools.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Washington College men's rowing team competed primarily against crews from Division I schools in the open/collegiate four and open/collegiate eight at the Navy Day Regatta today in Philadelphia.

How It Happened
- The Shoremen had three boats entered in the open/collegiate four. The Shoremen's "A" boat was 22nd among 29 crews in 14:52.55, but that was the second-best performance for a crew from a Division III school in the race. (Merchant Marine was 16th in 14:29.72.) The Shoremen's "B" boat was 24th in 15:46.44, while the "C" boat was 27th in 16:09.51.
- The Shoremen were 27th of 31 crews in the open/collegiate eight in a time of 13:43.36. That was the best time by one of the four crews from Division III schools in the race by a wide margin. Merchant Marine, which finished 29th, was the next-fastest boat from a Division III school in the race, finishing in 14:37.72.
