Shorewomen Breeze Past Owls, 17-6

Shorewomen Reach Nine Wins for First Time Since 2004

BRYN MAWR, PA -- Sophomore attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) scored four goals and assisted on two others as visiting Washington College raced out to a 12-2 halftime lead en route to a 17-6 Centennial Conference women's lacrosse victory over host Bryn Mawr College this afternoon. The Shorewomen improved to 9-2 overall and 3-2 in conference play with the win, marking their first nine-win season since a 9-8 record in 2004. 

Ziccardi scored or assisted on the Shorewomen's first five goals of the game as Washington built a 7-0 lead in the first 8:05 of play. Ziccardi's fourth goal of the contest came with 20:06 left in the first half to give Washington an 8-1 advantage.

Freshman midfielder Carly Eisenbrandt (Baltimore, MD/Towson) and junior attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School) each scored two goals to join Ziccardi as multiple-goal scorers for Washington. Eisenbrandt also had two assists. Senior attacker Sarah Cannon (Baltimore, MD/Notre Dame Prep) added one goal and four assists, while sophomore midfielder Mollie Shipley (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) and sophomore midfielder Marissa Restaino (Media, PA/Penncrest) had one goal and one assist each. Freshman midfielder Chelsea Spector (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) had a career-high eight draw controls in the game to go along with her first collegiate goal.

Natalie Chrismer scored three goals and Miranda Gordon-Zigel netted two to lead Bryn Mawr. 

Washington held a 33-11 advantage in shots in the game, including a 24-3 advantage in the first half.  Washington also controlled 21 of the game's 25 draws.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Dickinson.
