CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Reigning Centennial Conference Women's Lacrosse Coach of the Year Julika Blankenship will be coaching a team of United States collegiate lacrosse players, including five from her Washington College team, in international play in Prague, Czech Republic, this summer.
Senior attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School), junior attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven), sophomore defender Meredith Callis (Baltimore, MD/Roland Park Country School), sophomore midfielder Carly Eisenbrandt (Baltimore, MD/Towson), and sophomore midfielder/defender Kathleen Maleski (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) are the five Shorewomen who will be making the trip.
The team is put together by American International Sports Teams and will compete against teams from other parts of the world.
Parrish has been one of the Shorewomen's top scorers during her career and is coming off a 24-goal, four-assist season. Ziccardi had a breakout year in 2011, scoring a team-leading 31 goals and finishing second on the team with 11 assists for a team-best 42 points. Callis led the Shorewomen in both ground balls (34) and caused turnovers (28) as a freshman. Eisenbrant scored 26 goals and assisted on 10 others a year ago, while Maleski scored six goals, handed out one assist, and recorded 19 ground balls, and tallied 15 caused turnovers.
Blankenship guided the Shorewomen to an 11-6 season last year, their most wins since 2003. Washington also qualified for the Centennial Conference Tournament for the first time that same year and won a Centennial Tournament game for the first time ever.
The Shorewomen will open their 2012 season March 3rd at Rowan University.
