Six Shorewomen Named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Washington College rowers Ericka Malow (Brunswick, OH/Brunswick) and Krista Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove), Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest), Ellen Liebenow (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge), and Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School)have been named College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division III National Scholar-Athletes for the 2009-10 season.

The National Scholar-Athlete Award is designed to recognize the outstanding academic accomplishments of female rowers and coxswains. The criteria include participating in their second, third, or fourth year of eligibility, participating in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference event, and a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester of the current season.

Malow and Krista Jensen, who graduated from Washington College earlier this month, are three-time CRCA National Scholar-Athletes, while Lych, who will be a senior in the fall, is a repeat honoree. Kelsie Jensen, Liebenow, and Mulligan will be juniors in the fall and are first-time Scholar-Athletes.
