    Washington College rising senior Jackie Creitz has been named to the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock All-America first team. Creitz is the fifth Shorewoman in the team's history to earn All-America first-team honors.
  • Kari Hughes Promoted to Head Women's Rowing Coach

    Washington College Director of Athletics Dr. Bryan Matthews has announced the promotion of Kari Hughes to head women’s rowing coach. Hughes served as the lead assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Shorewomen during the 2015-16 season under head coach Dr. Mike Davenport. Davenport is retiring in July. Hughes is a former United States National Team member and a veteran rowing coach and instructor.

    GOLD RIVER, Calif. — The 13th-ranked Washington College women’s rowing team competed at the first day of the NCAA Division III Championships today on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. Both the Shorewomen’s first and second varsity eights advanced to their respective petite finals to be held tomorrow.

    Head women's rowing coach Dr. Mike Davenport is this week's Shoreman of the Week. Coach Davenport, who is retiring this summer after 26 seasons, coached his team to a fourth straight conference title and NCAA Division III Championship berth at the MARC Championships on Saturday.

    The Washington College women’s rowing team won both the first and second varsity eights to capture its fourth consecutive Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championship and fourth consecutive automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championships to at the MARC Championships on Pinchot Lake in Lewisberry, Pa. Following the regatta, the annual MARC awards were presented and Washington College head coach Dr. Mike Davenport was named the MARC’s Women’s Coach of the Year to headline the Shorewomen’s honorees.

    Dr. Mike Davenport, who is in his 26th season as head coach of the Washington College women’s rowing team, has announced his retirement, effective July 5th. Davenport also serves as director of the College’s rowing program as well as Assistant to the Athletic Director for Professional Development and Compliance. During his first 16 years at the school, he coached the men’s rowing team in addition to the women’s.
  • Shorewomen Eights Both Place Third in Petite Finals at Kerr Cup

    The Washington College women’s rowing team competed at the Kerr Cup on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia today. The Shorewomen’s first varsity eight competed in the women’s varsity eight against Division I and II crews, finishing third in the petite final. Their second varsity eight competed in the Division III women’s varsity eight, also placing third in that petite final.

    The Washington College women’s rowing team’s first varsity eight won the grand final of the Division III women’s varsity eight in an exciting three-way finish at the Knecht Cup, held on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J., today. The Shorewomen’s second varsity eight also competed in the event.
