Miskiel Wins 200 Breaststroke, Finishes Second in 100 Freestyle
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Dickinson College topped host Washington College, 135-61, in a Centennial Conference women's swim meet this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center. Sophomore Elizabeth Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won one individual event and placed second in another in the loss for the Shorewomen (3-5 overall, 1-3 Centennial).
Miskiel won the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.20. She was second in the 100 freestyle in 56.94.
Sophomore Hilary Badger (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales) began the meet with a WC season-best 1:04.31 100 backstroke leg in the 400 medley relay. Badger, Miskiel, sophomore Samantha Gross (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove), and freshman Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) placed second in the 400 medley relay in a WC season-best time of 4:22.34.
Badger, Sykes, freshman Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico), and senior Morgan Phillips (Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) received the first-place points in the 400 freestyle relay, the last event of the meet, as Dickinson entered the event as exhibitions only. Washington's time of 3:58.18 was the second-fastest in the race.
Sykes swam a WC season-best time of 2:28.01 in the 200 butterfly, good for third place in the race.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against Swarthmore.
