Shorewomen Compete at Yellow Jacket Invitational

Samer Goes 3-0 in Singles, 2-1 in Doubles

ASHLAND, Va. — The Washington College women's tennis team competed at the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon, yesterday and today. The Shorewomen went 6-6 in doubles and 7-10 in singles at the tournament.

Yellow Jacket Invitational

Doubles
- Ella Samer and Cecilia Cress went 2-1 in three doubles matches, scoring wins over opponents from Juniata and Virginia Wesleyan. Samer also lost one doubles match with Sarah Bruno, while Cress lost one with Riley Katzman.
- Mariah Thomas and Bruno went 2-0 in a pair of doubles matches, defeating Juniata and Bridgewater, while Hayley Sanchez and Katzman and Sanchez and Thomas each went 1-1. Bruno and Katzman played one match together, defeating a doubles team from Virginia Wesleyan.

Singles
- Samer went 3-0 in singles to post an overall team-best 5-1 record in the tournament. She topped opponents from Virginia Wesleyan, Randolph-Macon, and Juniata in singles. 
- Cress, Katzman, Sanchez, and Thomas each went 1-2 in singles. Bruno lost the two singles matches she played.
