Lee Tallies 50th Career Double-Double As Shorewomen Top Bears In Four Sets

Notches 15 Kills and Nets 17 Digs To Top All Shorewomen in Both Categories

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Senior outside hitter Kristin Lee (Dayton, Md./River Hall) tallied her 50th career double-double and her 12th of the season with team-bests of 15 kills and 17 digs to go along with a contest-best four service aces as host Washington College downed visiting Ursinus, 3-1 (25-11, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20) at the Cain Athletic Center in a Centennial Conference volleyball match on Wednesday evening.  The Shorewomen improve to 16-7 overall and 4-3 in the Centennial, while the Bears fall to 5-16 and 0-8 respectively.

Washington College 3 Ursinus 1 (25-11, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20)

How It Happened
-The Shorewomen never trailed in the first set on their way to a 14-point victory.  Leading 11-6, WC won 14 of the final 19 points to take the set.  A service ace by Lee ended the set.
-Ursinus jumped out to an 18-13 lead in the second set on a kill by Allison Raff before Washington went on a 9-3 run to take a 22-21 lead on an attack error by the Bears.  However the Bears would win four of the final five points of the set to win by two points.  A Raff kill clinched the set for Ursinus.
-Down 3-0 to Ursinus in the third set, Washington went on a 14-4 run to take a 14-7 lead on an assisted block by Alexis Jordan and Alaina Geissberger.  Ursinus won the next four points to cut the lead to 14-11 on a Kathryn Yoo ace, but Washington responded with an 11-4 run to end the set.  Lee ended the third on a kill.
-The Shorewomen led 17-12 before the Bears rolled off five straight points to tie the fourth set at 17-17 on an attack error by Washington.  The Shorewomen would close the set and match with an 8-3 run to win by five.  The hosts were beneficiaries of six attack errors by the guests in the set and match closing run.  Two of the six attack miscues were due to blocks by the Shorewomen.

For The Shorewomen (16-7, 4-3 CC)
-Lee (15 kills, 17 digs, 4 aces), Taylor Horan (36 assists to lead all players and 10 digs), Jess Daunoras (10 kills, hit .364 and recorded match-best 7 blocks), Audrey Utchen (16 digs), Rachel Baker (13 digs), Emma Craig (10 digs) and Geissberger (6 blocks)
-Washington hit .204 in the win, including .344 in the first set win.

For Ursinus (5-16, 0-8 CC)
-Raff (match-highs of 16 kills and 23 digs), Karla Thiele (10 kills and 19 digs), Emily van Mulbregt (26 assists and 12 digs), Cori Cichowicz (17 digs).
-Bears hit .019 in the contest.

-Washington has now won four straight over Ursinus and now lead the all-time series 14-13.
-Since 2004, Washington has won nine of the 12 meetings.
-Horan has 12 double-doubles this season, including eight of the last nine.
-Lee has notched double-doubles in her last four CC matches.
-The Shorewomen have registered five matches of 10 or more blocks this season with tonight's 13-block team performance.
